The exmandatario indicated that in 1982, the date of the murder of Eduardo Frei Montalva, Chile "was a country of crazy minds". The declarations of Lagos happen after the failure of 811 pages that dictated the judge Alejandro Madrid during this day.
This afternoon, after the decision that confirmed the murder of former President Eduardo Frei Montalva, exmandatario Ricardo Lagos, referred to the case and said that what happened is an "unusual event in the history of Chile."
In a conversation with Radio Cooperativa, the former head of state, said that "Augusto Pinochet is responsible for this murder." However, he added that "we will not forget that the military regime was not only composed of the military." In January 1982, there were many civilians in high office in government.
Lagos also said that Chile during those years "was a country of maddened minds … (but) to get to that?".
The 811 pages written by Judge Alejandro Madrid condemn six people for the murder: Dr. Patricio Silva Garín; the driver of former President Luis Becerra Arancibia; the former civilian agent of the CNI Raúl Lillo Gutiérrez; Dr. Pedro Valdivia Soto and the sociologists Helmar Rosenberg Gómez and Sergio González Bombardiere.
