Composting, recycling and collection of waste

There is no pickup scheduled for Christmas Day, instead it will take place on Boxing Day. The entire collection will be delayed by one day for the rest of the week.

Parking Fee

City Hall: Monday, December 24th at 6pm. on Thursday, December 27th at 6 in the morning.
ByWard Market Garage (70 Clarence St.): Monday, December 24th at 5pm. for Wednesday, December 26 at 7 in the morning.
Dalhousie Garage (141 Clarence St.): Monday, December 24th at 5pm for Wednesday, December 26th at 7am.

All other Ottawa City parking regulations and restrictions will apply. Do not forget to see the parking bans in the winter for cleaning snow. When snow bans are in place, residents can park overnight at free parking garages in the city.

Public Transit

The traffic will be working, but with reduced service from December 24 to December 28.

The traffic information line will run from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. on Christmas day and from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on boxing day. The public is advised to call 613-741-4390 or check online for specific route details.

For Transpo

Call the reservation offices at 613-244-7272 to arrange transportation on Christmas Day and Boxing Day. Reservations for Christmas Day can be made on or after December 18 and reservations for Boxing Day can be made made from December 19.

Ottawa Public Library Services

All branches, departments and library services are closed from Christmas Eve to after Boxing Day.

Public transit

The STO will offer free service on Christmas Day and buses will operate according to Sunday schedule. On Boxing Day, buses will operate on Saturday time.

Alcohol

The SAQ Express will close at 7pm. on December 24 and will reopen at 1:00 p.m. on December 26th.
