Washington Post: Trump says his & # 39; instinct & # 39; can you tell him more than any of the brains can tell me?

"I'm doing business and I'm not being accommodated by the Fed," Trump told the Post in an interview. "They're making a mistake because I have a bowel and my gut tells me more times than anyone else can tell me."

GM said on Monday it would close production at five factories in North America and reduce its salaried workforce by 15 percent, including a quarter of the company's executives.

The president told the Post that he "is not at all happy" with Jerome Powell, the man he chose to head the Federal Reserve.

Trump has long expressed his frustration with Powell. On the way to the midterm elections in November, Trump repeatedly assaulted him and called the Fed "mad" and "crazy" by recent interest rate hikes. Since July, Powell's repeated scrutiny by Trump has gradually increased with new veiled threats that he might consider dismissing his Fed chairman.
In a lengthy interview with the Post, Trump also rejected the US government report released last week that issued a dire warning about climate change and its devastating impacts.

Trump told the Post that "I do not see" man-made climate change, despite the overwhelming consensus of the scientific community that climate change is caused by human activity.

"One of the problems that many people like about me, we have high levels of intelligence, but we are not necessarily believers," Trump told the Post. "You look at our air and our water, and now it's on a clean record."

The government report said that the US economy could lose hundreds of billions of dollars – or, worst case scenario, more than 10% of its gross domestic product – by the end of the century.
Trump also threatened to cancel its scheduled meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin later this week after Russian ships opened fire on and seized three Ukrainian ships near the Crimea. The president is expected to meet with the foreign leader at a G20 meeting in Argentina, and should discuss regional and security issues, Trump national security adviser John Bolton said on Tuesday during a White House briefing.

Trump said he was waiting for the "full report" from his national security team, according to the Post, and said the report "will be very determinant."

"Maybe I do not have the meeting, maybe I do not even have the meeting … I do not like that assault, I do not want that assault," Trump told the Post.
