It was not exactly a year of homerun for Xbox One exclusives. To begin with, there simply were not many of them, and Sea of Thieves – arguably the biggest Xbox One release of the year – was quite disappointing at the launch. It was not so bad for the Xbox One and its exclusive ones, as 2018 gave us Forza Horizon 4.
I find myself in a position similar to the one I had in 2016: I'm not a racing player, but here I am naming a race title as one of the best games of the year. I think this really talks about the quality of a game when it succeeds in attracting people who are not fans of the genre, and Forza Horizon 4 does it beautifully.
Certainly, there was not a ton that changed in the Forza Horizon 3 for 4. The scenario has changed and now the seasons are progressing as you play, which is admittedly a great new resource on its own. There are also some new ways to play, but the Forza Horizon the formula is still there in the center: take part in the Horizon Festival and all the different events it organizes when you gain fame, build a collection of cars and explore the world around you.
I think Forza HorizonThe open world approach is one of the best parts of the series and in Forza Horizon 4is particularly great. This time we come to Britain and although it does not have the same environmental diversity as Forza Horizon 3Australia, however, is a wonderful place to explore.
Britain's forests, fields and rivers are beautiful enough, but then we launch new stations in the mix and Forza Horizon 4The world really begins to feel alive. Each season in Forza Horizon 4 seems unique, and this difference is obviously more noticeable when entering winter for the first time.
In winter, driving conditions, unsurprisingly, get worse (or become more fun, depending on your perspective). The roads cover the ice in points, which makes the zoom on the map a little more exciting. Ice cream lakes too, which means you can cross with them and discover all kinds of cool things – or just use them as a shortcut to your destination.
Although summer offers ideal driving conditions most of the time, spring and fall also do their part to throw some curved balls. In the spring, the rains come frequently and make the world to be born with flowers that dot seas of green. There is also a lot of mud, and even some small floods at some points, but this is nothing a good rally car can not stand. In the fall, the rain recovers a little, and of course, we have the beautiful colors that the fall tends to bring.
Forza Horizon 4 obviously not the first game to implement changing seasons, but the way the game makes it looks special. In a way, the world is the main star of this game, with all its secrets to discover and its complete beauty. The wonderful thing is that while you may be an active participant in those seasons – buying new cars to suit road conditions or upgrading existing cars to be better equipped for the current climate – it is not necessary. Your level of participation in the simulation part of Forza Horizon 4 is entirely up to you.
I think that's what it does Forza Horizon 4 Such a handsome game. I imagine that simulation simulators will probably be Forza Motorsport in the long run, but there are places where they can sink their teeth Forza Horizon 4 also. For players who tend to gravitate more to arcade racers like me, progression is still possible without dipping into car customization. Forza Horizon 4 is as deep a game as you want it to be, and if you just want to rack up a collection of cars without thinking too much about the action under the hood, you can absolutely do it. You can even buy real estate this time!
With that said, you can create enough car stock if that is what you are looking for. The official count, not including DLC cars, is somewhere north of 450, though I would not be surprised if that number had already surpassed 500. Regardless of the exact number, there are many cars to unlock and go through the version of Britain for Playground Games.
As always, cars on offer range from curiosities you've never seen on a real-world race track to super cars that cost millions of credits to buy. New cars are delivered as candy in Forza Horizon 4 – Sometimes you are given to them to fulfill the requirements of an event, but more often you will earn them through rounds, which you gain every time you level up. You can also discover and restore old cars looking for barns, which has become one of my favorite aspects of the game. Then there is the Forzathon Store and the auction house, where you can buy new cars with cash.
No matter how you unlock cars, the point is that you will be unlocking them quickly from the beginning of the game. You Never Really Want a New Car Forza Horizon 4and you'll quickly get to the point where you have your favorite car (or two or three) for each different type of event.
When you look at how many events there are – street races, rallies, off-road shows, acrobatic challenges, speed traps, shop windows, and so on – and add them to the open world map and car system in depth, it is clear that Forza Horizon 4 it's a massive game. It's that you can spend tens of hours playing without unlocking everything or getting bored, and I'm sure many Forza Horizon enthusiasts have already done just that.
You can drive from one event to another as easily as you can not do anything in particular and stroll through the British countryside with one of the inn's many radio stations providing the soundtrack to your adventure. I think that's what makes this game so appealing. You do not always need to have a clear plan of progression in mind. Sometimes just explore the map and see what you find or enjoy the scenery.
Even if you're not a racing fan or do not like cars, I still think Forza Horizon 4 It is worth checking. It's one of those rare games that can fool people, regardless of their level of interest in the genre as a whole. I do not think I could choose a Lamborghini out of line and here I am recommending Forza Horizon 4 as one of the best games of the year.
As far as I'm concerned, the Forza Horizon 4 is a must have game for Xbox One and since Microsoft is now making available all the primary exclusives available on Windows, it's a must have game for the PC as well. There is also no qualification for this because I think this is a game for everyone – equal parts are accessible and in-depth. Playground Games did something special with Forza Horizon series, and nowhere is this more evident than in Forza Horizon 4. Even though Forza series is getting a bit full of sequels these days, Forza Horizon 4 is one that should not be overlooked.
