Dan Dotson, star of "Storage Wars," said he had just discovered that he sold a storage unit containing $ 7.5 million in cash for a mere $ 500.
Dotson and his wife Laura told The Blast that a random woman approached him in one of his auctions on the multimillion-dollar breakthrough last week.
"She approached and said her husband works with a guy who bought me a unit for $ 500 and found a safe inside," Dotson said.
The woman said the new owner of the unit, who was not identified, took the safe to a locksmith who opened it and found $ 7.5 million in cash.
Things got complicated when the new owner was contacted by a lawyer who represented the former owners, who offered a $ 600,000 reward in exchange for the money.
The new owners declined the initial offer before paying $ 1.2 million to return the remaining $ 6.3 million.
Dotsons co-star Bargain Hunters Thrift Store owner René Nezhoda said the money was probably related to the mafia or drug cartel.
"If you find money like that, there's probably a reason not to be in the bank," Nezhoda told The Blast.
