Shenmue 3 Developer Ys Net ended its crowdfunding efforts after raising more than $ 7.17 million from 81,078 lenders.
As some of you may remember, the studio actually started raising money in 2015, when you released the Shenmue 3 Kickstarter during E3.
In the initial campaign, 69,320 supporters pledged more than $ 6.3 million, helping Ys Net crush its initial $ 2 million funding goal.
After completing his Kickstarter, the development team opened a three-month "slacker backer" period through PayPal, which we now know resulted in about 12,000 stragglers offering $ 800,000 extra – raising the overall total across all campaigns to US $ 7,179,510.
"It's an impressive score, is not it? Seeing the final numbers, all of us here can not help but feel the immensity of the support we all gave to make this project a reality," commented Ys Net in a Kickstarter update.
"It's now less than 10 months before the release date, August 27, 2019. Everyone on the team is giving everything they received every day before launch, and we hope we can continue to count on your Support, support."
