Christian Serratos easily enters the singer Tejano Selena Quintanilla & # 39; s shoes in the first teaser of an upcoming Netflix series about the life of the late artist.
The star of "The walking dead" wiggles a red lip, feathered bangs and the singer's now infamous purple jumpsuit in a goal promo that the streaming service crashed this morning, showing Serratos joining the character singing one of Selena's biggest hits, "Como La Flor".
According to Netflix, the program will be "a maturing story after Selena Quintanilla as her dreams come true and all the harrowing and transformative choices she and her family need to make when navigating success, family and music."
Desperate Housewives ally Ricardo Chavira will play Selena's father Abraham, while Gabriel Chavarria will act as his brother, AB. Also in the cast: Noemi Gonzalez as Selena's sister Suzette, and Seidy Lopez as her mother, Marcella
"Selena is an inspired figure who has transcended generations. At Campanario, we always knew it was crucial for this series to find actors with the right mix of talent, charisma and passion to honor Selena's legacy and her family's history." said Jaime Davila, president and co-founder of Campanario Entertainment, which is producing the series. "Our casting director Carla Hool and her team have found an amazing cast to portray the Quintanilla family, and we are sure that fans everywhere will be captivated once again by Selena's amazing life."
Quintanilla was shot and killed by her fan club president Yolanda Saldivar in 1995 – at a time when she was successful as an artist. She was only 23 years old.
Part 1, consisting of six one-hour episodes, will be released in 2020.
