The Saskatoon Blades defeated Prince George Cougars 4-1 on Saturday in the first game of a ten-day trip in five matches through BC Blades improve to 15-8-2 and their 32 points put them on the fifth overall position in the Western Hockey League.
The Blades gave up the initial goal of the game only at 2:04 on a Mike MacLean shot, but closed the Cougars the rest of the way. Max Gerlach scored just 1:41 later and Seth Bafaro gave the Blades the lead in the final seconds of the first period. Eric Florchuk and Kristian Roykas Marthinsen completed the scoring in the third. Nolan Maier had 21 defenses in the win, while Taylor Gauthier had 24 for the Cougars.
Saskatoon continues its swing on the West Coast with a game on Tuesday against the Vancouver Giants.
