Is George Eads saying goodbye to "MacGyver"?

That's the report coming from The Hollywood Reporter, which cites sources who claim the former "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" star got in an "altercation" while filming in October, and "stormed off the show's Atlanta set despite having several remaining hours of production remaining for the day."

According to the sources, Eads announced his plans to quit the reboot of the 1980s TV hit, with producers ultimately agreeing to free him from his contract; He has reportedly been asked to be from the show – which films in Atlanta – in order to spend more time with his young daughter, who resides in Los Angeles with his ex-wife.

Eads, 51, has portrayed Jack Dalton, partner and old Army pal of Angus MacGyver (Lucas Till) since the series pilot, which first aired in September 2016, and was the first actor cast in the show.

At THR points out, this is not the first time that Eads' departure from the show resulted in off-camera drama. Back in 2004, he and co-star Jorja Fox were reportedly both no-shows on the set while in the midst of salary negotiations. Apparently hoping to score a salary increase similar to the one Brad Garrett received the previous year when he refused to show up for work on "Everybody Loves Raymond", the move backfired spectacularly when both actors were fired, with casting notices quickly going out in search for new actors to replace them. They were subsequently rehired – at their original salaries.

Reps for Eads, the CBS network and CBS TV Studios (which produces the show) all declined comment.

According to THR, Eads' final episode is scheduled to air sometime in 2019.

"MacGyver" airs Fridays at 8 p.m. ET / PT on Global; you can also watch full episodes online.
