Peel Regional Police is warning the public about scammers trying to sell fake Xs on various websites.
A press release of January 13, 2019 said that the coup is taking place in Mississauga, Ontario, and Brampton, Ontario. areas and noted that the transactions come with a "fraudulent invoice for the iPhone X".
"Potential buyers look at the phone, and because of features similar to the iPhone X, they believe the item to be authentic. It's only after the transaction is completed and the buyer tries to use the phone he finds to be fake, "the statement said.
The disclosure is encouraging anyone to introduce themselves and report any incidents that occur in the future, so that investigators can locate the person.
Hull region police officers offer advice for when buying articles from online classified websites:
1. Always wonder if this is too good to be true?
2. Do not make purchases online from unverified and unknown sources.
3. Use the buying and selling exchange zones provided by the Peel Regional Police located in Division 11, 12 and 22.
