People in Newfoundland and Labrador may not feel it, but the Conference Board of Canada predicts that the province will lead the country in economic growth next year.
The board projects that the economy grow 5.2% in 2019, far surpassing any other province. The board says that the offshore oil royalties are the reason behind the growth.
PEI and British Columbia are the next to 2.7%. Even Alberta, rich in oil, will grow only 2.2 percent.
The outlook for Newfoundland and Labrador in 2018 was to have the lowest GDP growth in any province.
