A shootout in downtown Ottawa on Sunday night led one person to the hospital and police raided the area near the Rideau Center mall.
Police said the victim's injuries were not considered fatal. They would not reveal more details about the victim.
The shooting took place around 10:20 p.m. on Rideau Street – not the mall, police said.
A few minutes after the shooting, police and emergency vehicles were filling the block. The street was blocked off between Sussex Drive and Dalhousie Street, and the police yellow tape was placed, while Rideau Street McDonalds customers and other restaurants looked on.
The commotion last weekend before Christmas came hours after police approached and arrested a man at another town mall, the Billings Bridge mall, which they said was carrying a gun and approaching people.
