Street artist Kevin Fret was shot and killed in Puerto Rico, Puerto Rican newspaper El Vocero y Remezcla said in a statement from the Fret manager. The artist, who described himself as the first star of the openly gay Latin trap, would have been shot eight times while riding a motorcycle on Rio Piedras this morning. He was 24 years old.
Fret's death is the latest in a recent series of murders in Puerto Rico. An FBI official recently stated that the island is facing a "crisis of violence". Police claim that Fret's murder is the 22nd homicide in Puerto Rico in 2019, according to CBS News. His death is being investigated by the police.
"Kevin was an artistic soul, a great dreamer," his manager Eduardo Rodriguez said in a statement. "His passion was music and he still had a lot to do. This violence must stop. There are no words that describe the feeling we have and the pain that leads us to know that a person with so many dreams needs to go. All of us must unite in these difficult times and ask for much peace to our beloved Puerto Rico. "
