NEW YORK — San Jose Sharks defense Erik Karlsson was suspended for two games, without payment, by an illegal check to head the Los Angeles Kings forward Austin Wagner during NHL Game No. 550 in San Jose on Saturday, December 22, the National Hockey League's Player Safety Department announced today.
The incident occurred at 2:33 of the second period.
Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Karlsson will lose $ 69,892.48. The money goes to the Players Emergency Assistance Fund.
