Giant lung clot that came out of / Boing Boing

A patient suffering from heart failure allegedly spit out an enormous blood clot that somehow maintained the shape of the pulmonary passages he had blocked. Haley Weiss, of Atlantic, reports that "doctors are not sure that this came from a patient"

In the case of Wieselthaler, blood flowed out of the patient's lung network into the right lower lung, going directly to the bronchial tree. After days of coughing up much smaller clots, the Wieselthaler patient continued with a longer, deeper cough and, relieved, spat a large clot of strange shape, folded over on itself. Once Wieselthaler and his team carefully unrolled the beam and designed it, they discovered that the architecture of the airways had been maintained so perfectly that they could identify it as the right bronchial tree based only on the number of branches and their alignment.

He died a few days later. I looked for it. Excuse.
