If you just caught the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it can be a bit difficult to figure out where to start all that the game has to offer from the beginning.
Smash Ultimate really lives up to its name by giving players a ton of things to do right away, while also containing most of the characters, stages and music tracks in Smash's history.
That way, we've put together the five things you should do when choosing the game to get a great idea of everything it has to offer.
Unlock all characters
Smash Ultimate has incredible 74 cast characters at the launch, by far the most in the series' history. When you first boot Smash Ultimate, you'll notice that only eight of them are unlocked, which means that the first thing you'll want to do is unlock the entire list.
Although you can unlock them simply by playing the game modes in which we'll go into this guide later, this may take some time.
There is a much faster path that takes all the characters in just a few hours, giving the chance to see the full extent of the list almost immediately.
Play classic mode
The next two entries in the list are a little interchangeable, but given the Classic mode is a minor time commitment, this is a good place to go next.
Classic Mode is the old-school Smash that fans will meet and love. Each character has a unique path full of boss fights and other surprises that will allow you to get an idea of the special movement of each character.
It's also the second fastest way to unlock all the characters, which means it's a great option if the repetitive nature of the above method is too much for you.
Play World of Light
Once you feel the game, you can enter World of Light, the adventure mode of the game that has incredible depth.
As seen in the cinematic opening of the game, his favorite characters were overcome by a mysterious entity, with only Kirby managing to escape unscathed. From that point on, you'll go through battle after battle to save the various characters from the game through different unique fights.
Unlocking a character in World of Light will also unlock it in other modes, but the unlock rate is very slow compared to the above methods. If you want to play World of Light, do it just for fun and not as a method to unlock characters.
Get some online games at
Now that you've become interested in the main modes of Smash Ultimate, it's time to try your luck on some online games. Of course, this is not for everyone, but it's never too much to test your ability against other players out there!
There are two main methods to play online: Quickplay and Battle Sands. Quickplay will combine you with another player (or players) for a series of matches with your Global Smash Power (GSP), the on-line game's online ranking system. Battle Sands are rooms that can be configured to play against friends or others with a custom set of rules.
Although the connections are not perfect, online is still a great way to have the feeling of playing against other players if you have no one to play locally.
Above all, just have fun with the game! This is the most comprehensive product that Nintendo has released to date and there is a lot to delve into.
If you plan to be competitive in the game or simply play it to have fun with your friends, the game has something for everyone and should be nothing but fun at the end of the day.
See you all online!
