There are only three stars linked to the new approach of Denis Villeneuve Dune So far, but each of them is a reason to be very excited. The science fiction epic currently has Timothée Chalamet in the lead as Paul Atreidas and the ever-bright Rebecca Ferguson on board as Lady Jessica – and the latest addition is no stranger to epic space operas. According Variety, mountain man Dave Bautista – from Guardians of the Galaxy fame, and which previously appeared in Villeneuve Blade Runner 2049 – is set to join the project when the cameras roll.
THR reports that Bautista will play Glossu "Beast" Rabban – the eldest nephew of pustular Baron Vladimir Harkonnen. In the adaptation of David Lynch in 1984, the paper was played by Paul L. Smith.
It is still early for the classic novel by Frank Herbert of Villeneuve. In addition to directing, the filmmaker is writing chores with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts – and it is believed that his adaptation covers two films. Considering the epic scope of history, with its deep and dense universe of desert planets and extensive galactic dynasties, and the difficulty that even experienced filmmakers have had in bringing Dune to the screen before, this could be a wise choice. With Villeneuve's track record of creating great, bold, visionary science fiction Arrival and Blade Runner 2049), this is one to look forward to.
