President Donald Trump wished Amazon Inc. founder Jeff Bezos in his divorce from his wife MacKenzie, predicting the suit would be "a beauty."
"I wish him good luck," Trump told reporters at the White House on Thursday as he set out on a trip to the Mexican border. "It's going to be a beauty."
Bezos and his wife announced they would be divorced on Wednesday. At the end of the day, the National Enquirer – whose president and chief executive, David Pecker, has been a close ally of Trump – reported that Bezos has had a relationship with Lauren Sanchez, a former TV anchor and helicopter pilot and wife of Hollywood talent agent, Patrick Whitesell. The Enquirer said he was actively investigating the relationship between Bezos and Sanchez for four months.
The New York Post also reported the relationship and said Whitesell and Sanchez are separate.
Trump has a history of publicly attacking Bezos and his company. The president criticized his government's coverage of the Bezos-owned Washington Post and pressured the US Postal Service to raise prices it charges Amazon to ship its packages.

Pecker is cooperating with federal prosecutors who are investigating the so-called catch and death payments the Enquirer did before the 2016 presidential election for at least one woman who claimed to have had an affair with Trump. The Enquirer secured the rights to the material, ensuring that the allegations would not be shared with other media, and then never published the story.
