Colby Covington tonight narrowed his criticism of the UFC by failing to score him for a midfield title fight – and took his biggest shots to UFC president Dana White.
Today, Covington summoned White in an interview with MMAjunkie and said the prosecutor is incommunicado when it comes to him. Covington (14-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) said he plans to meet White, "get in his face," and find out why he was deferred for a shot against welterweight titlist Tyron Woodley (19-3-1 MMA, 9 -2-1 UFC), and the kick went to Kamaru Usman (14-1 MMA, 9-0 UFC) at UFC 235.
In a live appearance on MMAjunkie Radio tonight at SiriusXM, Covington said he has no real relationship with White despite his appearance together in 2018 with President Donald Trump at the White House. Covington, who won a middleweight title at UFC 225, only to dismount, also said it's okay if White and the UFC want to cut him.
"Dana White is in the media saying," Colby is not taking the fights, we do not allow it in the UFC. He can fight somewhere else, "said Covington. "So what I'm saying is, OK, Dana. Let's see if you're a man of your balls. Let's see if you're a man of your word. Let's see if you can stick to what you say. Did you say you do not allow that in the UFC? All right. I'm testing you, mother (curse word). Let's see the size of your balls. Let go of me, b-h.
Covington on Monday told MMAjunkie that he thinks the forces are working behind the scenes to quell their hopes for the title. He said a "power game" between the UFC manager and Usman Ali Abdelaziz is taking place.
Covington said Woodley has turned down fights with him on a number of occasions, but now it's fine to fight Usman at UFC 235, which takes place on March 2 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
In that fight, Covington said he thinks Woodley will win.
"Woodley's going to smoke him," Covington told MMAjunkie Radio. "Usman is a killer, and he should not even be in that position." He has not yet beat anyone in the top 10 who has come out of the win, his only qualifying wins are against guys coming off defeats – and guys coming off losses I've already caught their souls. I left them bloody and beaten and they did not want to fight anymore. He has a padded register. He should not even be in position.
"But he spoke his way up. He sucked some people into the UFC and played that little role, so good for him – he managed to outdo the world's number one fighter. But let's make it clear that he will never be the number one fighter in the world because he will never defeat me and not even one of those scrubs. I'm the number one fighter in the world and no one (bad language) stopped me. "
Covington's issue with White comes from his provisional victory over Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 225 in June 2018. When Covington was unable to fight for the unification of the title against Woodley because of nasal surgery, he was stripped of his belt.
When Usman defeated the Angels in November, White said he may have outscored Covington with his 13th consecutive ninth straight UFC win. Covington argues that White is backing off on his promise to lead Covington to the title.
And that led Covington to be as critical as any fighter could be towards the UFC boss, whom he said was the second violin of former UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta before the sale of the company.
"I do not really have a relationship with Dana White, and I do not give a shit about him," Covington told MMAjunkie Radio. "He's making money – he made all the money from the fans, from all the fans who built this sport and they sold for $ 4 billion, and the reason the sport is really what it is is because of Lorenzo, Dana did not do anything – he (was) just Lorenzo's little boy of checks, he holds the coat for him and stuff.Dana is already cashing in – he got all that money and let it come to mind. person (expletive) and he has no morals or values.
