According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, free-agent relief jar Andrew Miller and the St. Louis Cardinals are "locking" in a contract.

An off-season target of the New York Mets, Miller, 33, hit the market after a 2018 campaign (hamstrings, knee, shoulder) that saw his stats fall to unusually low levels.

After raising an average of 1.82 wins between 2013 and 2017 with 469 strikeouts, 84 walks, an independent pitch rating of 1.96, WHIP 0.850 and a 234 ERA + rating from 2013 to 2017 (108 appearances, 291.2 innings), Miller had a nightmare season in 2018.

Among the injury litany, the southpaw threw in 37 games (34 innings), posting a 4.34 ERA, 3.51 FIP, 1,382 WHIP and a strike rate of 2.81 last year.

Fangraphs has the estimated value of Miller listed as $ 22 million in two years.
