Canadiens face Sabers in Buffalo

It must be a fun third period … and the Canadiens will start in a power game.

Brendan Gallagher scored 14 minutes in the second period … except he did not. Obvious kick.

But with two minutes remaining, Gallagher got his 11th … really. Rookie Brett Kulak got his first assist as a Canadian.

It took nearly 13 minutes from the game for the home team to break. Casey Mittelstadt defeated Antti Niemi with a neat but predictable kick. There were several defensive breakdowns of CH in the goal.

Shots through 40 are 19-19.

• Let go of everyone who thought that Detroit and Ottawa – not to mention the Islanders, Rangers and Canadiens – would be ahead of New Jersey, Pittsburgh, Philly and Florida on Thanksgiving.
