Canada arrests Huawei chief financial officer for extradition to US

This will not help the China-US situation

Globe & Mail reports that Canadian authorities in Vancouver arrested Huawei CFO Wanzhou Meng at the request of the US authorities on December 1. She is also the daughter of the founder of the company.

The arrest is suspected of violating US sanctions against Iran by selling telecommunications shares.

Today, Reuters published a story alleging closer ties between Huawei and a company that sold HP equipment in Iran.

Huawei has often been the focus of US intelligence to try to gain access to the 5G network. The company is the second largest manufacturer of telecommunications equipment in the world.
