A pedestrian was rushed to the hospital in potentially fatal conditions on Wednesday morning, after being hit by a pickup truck at N.W.
Police currently have the intersection of 26 Ave. and 5 St. W. W. blocked while they investigate.
EMS Calgary spokesman Stuart Brideaux confirmed that an adult woman was hit by a truck at around 7 am and was taken to hospital with serious and life-threatening injuries.
Specialized traffic officers were brought to the site and expected traffic in the area would be interrupted for hours.
A blue Ford truck could be seen facing east on 26 Ave. near the intersection of 5 St. policemen could be seen examining the front of the vehicle as well as a number of items scattered on the ground.

Genevieve and her family, who did not want to give their surname, live only a few houses away.
She said she heard "a noise that was unusual" around 7 in the morning, followed by the sounds of a barking dog.
"I thought maybe the neighbors were taking care of a dog or something, but then you hear the sirens coming in a few minutes later, so you see the whole scene," she said.
The mother of two children said there was no sign of a stop at the intersection of 26 Avenue. and often sees drivers "basically come flying" down the road.
"People drive the stop sign (on 5th Street) all the time; people are going too fast down the street, "she said. "We have two small children, it's scary. We're very vigilant, but it's a bad crossing. "
