The CES 2019 was filled with gorgeous and incredible TVs, but the model that stole the show was the incredible LG OLED TV from last year, which is now called the LG Signature OLED R.
In fact, the LG Signature OLED R was still the most impressive TV of the CES this year, despite the trend of 8K being the trend. It's not that 8K TVs from companies like Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Sony, TCL, Hisense and others are bad, but rather that the Signature OLED R is simply even more innovative in terms of design and technology than a resolution update.
Much of the appeal of Signature OLED R comes from LG's dominance over OLED display technology, which not only looks the best, but is also flexible and allows for unique and innovative TV designs and functions. No other TV that uses traditional LCD screen technology can enter an enclosure when it is not in use, or can adjust its height to eliminate the letterbox – when a video, usually a movie, is recorded at a non-standard aspect ratio, resulting in bars black above and below the actual image.
What is it: A TV that can also be inserted into an enclosure when not in use or can adjust its height for certain content.
Who does this: LG Electronics
Why is it best: OLED offers the best image quality, and the Signature OLED R is the most unique in terms of design and function. No other TV does what it can do. It also comes with a built-in sound bar with one of the highest rated audio standards, Dolby Atmos.
Where and when you can: There are no details on where yet, but will be available in the second half of 2019, according to LG.
How much will it cost: No price announcement so far, but expect something astronomical.
