Allegations in football coach

The coach of a youth football team in Surrey, B.C. was suspended after being identified in a blog post outlining allegations of inappropriate behavior.

The blog post written by former soccer player Ciara McCormack contains allegations of intimidation and sexual harassment against several women's football coaches, reports CTV News.

The post describes their experiences with Vancouver Whitecaps and the Canadian Football Association, which included potential sexual misconduct with underage players who were not reported to the police.

The coach in question left Whitecaps in 2008 and players were left with the impression that he would not oversee another team – until he joined Coastal FC.

Coastal Football Club executive director Chris Murphy told CTV News that they were not aware of the allegations of when the coach was hired but acted swiftly to suspend him when they learned of the job on Monday.

"Right away, we saw our board and some staff meet to discuss appropriate actions and steps, and that's when we decided to take the actions we did," Murphy told CTV.

Police are not currently involved, he added.

"This is all new to us but it is certainly a priority for us to not only get to the bottom of this situation but also review our own internal process and policies regarding the appointment of coaches in our club," Murphy said. .
