Bulgarian tracks in the new Mercedes Actros (photos)

Months after the debut of the new Mercedes A-Class with the stylish MBUX system developed by Bulgarian engineers, the automotive giant announced its next revolutionary technology with birth participation. This is the most modern truck cockpit in the world – the new Actros with Active Drive Assist.

The role of Viseon's Bulgarian development center is extremely large – from the engineering direction of the project to the very development of the individual elements of the system architecture. In the device itself, independently of each other, three different operating systems function to provide a secure and secure environment to perform specific functionalities. One revolution for this type of embedded systems is the use of hardware virtualization software for better management of peripherals. The project is based on Visteon's SmartCore technology, which integrates many traditional devices into a unified system. With this success with their first truck project, the engineers at the Sofia Development Center are extremely pleased with the opportunity to gain a unique experience in heavy transport.

With a series of appearances at various exhibitions and the launch of his flagship Actros, Daimler showed live heavyweight news live. The main features of the new trucks are the removal of side mirrors and the fully digitized interior of the cab. Traditional power tools (speedometers, turntables, etc.) have been replaced by a large screen that can be configured as desired by the driver. The number of buttons around the dashboard is also drastically reduced by touch-sensitive steering panels, the driver can switch menus that provide information about the traffic situation and condition of the truck, driving mode or just a quick access to multimedia and phone connected.

Other interesting modules in the new actors are:

  • semi-autonomous driving (the truck itself follows and does not leave the track)
  • identification of traffic signs and objects, as well as road users.
  • Lane Lane notification (in the case of manual triggering) and Object Alert in the Blank Visibility Area
  • Configurable panel display according to the driver's preferences and customization of the truck through the driver's profile

In addition to the dashboard, the central touch screen with intuitive interface, steering wheel buttons and quick release button bar under the center screen deserve attention. They allow the driver to easily navigate the menus, be it music and entertainment, or get important information about the status of the truck and manage various functions that can be installed in the vehicle.

The main menus available on the central display are:

  • Media and radio
  • Phone and smartphone (using Apple Interfaces – CarPlay and Google – AndroidAuto)
  • Lighting control
  • Status of the truck
  • Alarms
  • Virtual buttons
  • Air conditioning control

Equipped with more than 60 new features, Mercedes-Benz Trucks has truly launched the standalone, part-series steering and Bulgarian engineers have once again proven the scale of their world-class skills and abilities.
