In a question-and-answer session with the directors (via Slashfilm), they revealed the story behind the phrase "I am the Iron Man", which Tony speaks at the end of Ultimatum, mirroring the outcome of the hero's first solo film.

"Tony did not say anything at the moment. We were in the editing room saying, 'He has to say something. This is a character who lived and died with his tirades. ' And we could not think of what he could say, "said the director.

"Thanos said 'I'm inevitable'. And our editor Jeff Ford, who was with us in all four movies, is an amazing storyteller and said, 'Why do not we end the cycle with him saying' I'm the Iron Man. ' So we said, 'Take the cameras! We need to record this tomorrow, '"he continued.
