The second phase of the vaccination campaign against foot-and-mouth disease in Mato Grosso do Sul completed four days this Sunday (4), with the goal of contemplating approximately 8 million bovines and buffaloes up to 24 months of age. The campaign is extended to the plateau and border regions and Pantanal, for breeders who opted for vaccination only in November.
The campaign is carried out by Semagro (Secretary of State for Environment, Economic Development, Production and Family Agriculture) and Iagro (State Agency for Animal and Plant Health Protection).
The State has remained among the three best percentages of vaccination coverage in the country, through the so-called Pnefa (National Program for Eradication and Prevention of Foot-and-Mouth Disease), which provides for the definitive withdrawal of vaccination until 2023.
The doses must be purchased and applied between the 1st and the 30th of November in the regions of Fronteira and Planalto, and registration must be made by December 15. In the Pantanal region, vaccines should be applied until December 15, with registration until December 30.
In all three regions, the registration of the vaccination must be carried out directly by the producer on the Iagro website. In some more specific cases, determined according to State Government criteria, registration can also be done at local offices.
The animals destined to the slaughter can transit without the vaccination of the current stage until the registration of CT-13 of the property, after this term all must be vaccinated.
