Bissen reclassifies land for Google

Local officials in Bissen officially reclassified about 34 hectares of land in their territory late Thursday after a long-awaited communal council. Four members of the village council voted in favor, five abstained and two voted against. Such land located in the Roost district must, except reversing the situation, accommodate the future Google data center in which it was sold.

As a reminder, the council gave a first green light to the Internet giant last January, accepting the modification of the General Development Plan (PAG). But a second vote had to happen, to take into account the possible recourse or proposals of modification of the inhabitants.

This reclassification of the land now opens the way for a specific development project for the installation of the building. It is during this procedure that the American giant will have to provide concrete answers on the water consumption provided for the cooling of the servers. It's planned to draw on the Alzette. Electricity needs will also have to be quantified.
