Dhaka: According to the National Board of Revenue (NBR), the Customs and Investigations Board filed a lawsuit against three organizations of the Crescent Group for money laundering on behalf of the export of goods worth 919 crore 56 lakh overseas. In this, 17 people including Crescent Leather Products, Crescent Tanneries and Rimex Footwear Limited, and four employees of Janata Bank and current 13 officers were indicted. Meanwhile, the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Board arrested the president of Crescent Leather and Crescent Tannery, MA Quader.
In the conference room of the NBR conference on Wednesday (January 30), the chairman of the council, Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, told this information.
He said that Crescent Leather has 422 crore 46 lakhs, Footwear Remix 481 crore 26 lakh and Crescent Tanneries 15 crore 84 lakhs overseas in three organizations of the Crescent Group. Several cases were reported at the Chawkbazar police station on Wednesday on charges of money laundering. In this, 17 people involved in money laundering including Crescent Leather and Tanneries and President of Remakes Footwear and MD Meanwhile, MA Kader, chairman of Crescent Leather and Crescent Tanneries was detained. On Thursday (January 31) he will be asked to resend the court. Other defendants in the case will also be arrested.
The president of the NBR told police that Remede's shoe department chairman Abdul Aziz, MD Litul Jahan (Mira) and MD of Crescent Leather and Crescent Tanneries could not leave the country.
He said that 13 people including the DGM GM and FTD GM (Exports) from Bank Janata and the seat of the bank and 13 from the divisional office were charged in connection with the group's growing money laundering incident.
They are – GM of Janata Bank. Rezaul Karim, former GM Mohammad Zakir Hossain (currently DMD of Sonali Bank) and Fakhrul Alam (DMD, Bangladesh Agricultural Bank), DGM Kazi Rice Uddin Ahmed, AKM Asaduzzaman and Md. Iqbal, AGM Ataur Rahman Government, Principal Director. Khairul Amin and Md. Maghreb Ali, Senior Director Mohammad Ruhul Amin, Senior Officer. Abdullah Al Mamun, Md. Moniruzzaman and Md. Saiduzzaman After the list, Ataur Rahman was suspended from government.
The NBR chairman said that there are more than a dozen companies on the money list and that action will be taken against them soon after all the evidence from the Bank of Bangladesh, the Anti-Corruption Commission and the application of the law.
