The ORF presented its program for next year. ORF1 launches a weekly magazine, expands the original productions "Dok 1", shows the reporting format "Life is Beautiful", reinforces the entertainment content the night before with "Q1 A Tip is Wrong" and Brings the Big Show and Events from "Dancing Stars" to skiing and Formula 1 to the European Football Championship.
Sigmund Freud on a murder hunt
Also new are the program "Fakt oder Fake" and the report bar "Das Leben ist schön", which from February 2020 "presents a humorous and authentic view of the worlds of Austrian life". "The goal, far from American merchandise and relevant Austrian content in all genres, is undeniable," said Lisa Totzauer, head of ORF1. A contribution to this is also made by the new "Q1" eve questionnaire, which will begin in December 2019.
In addition, there will be a number of domestic premieres: In the spring, the eight-part ORF / Netflix "Freud" co-production will begin, in which young Sigmund Freud will hunt for the murder. In late January, the second season of "Walking on Sunshine" is on the air. With "Wipe is Power", the audience expects a new comedy series with Ursula Strauss in 2020. Also with "Vorstadtweibern" there is a reunion. In March, the 13th season of "Dancing Stars" begins.
Peter Rapp celebrates a comeback
After the intense domestic political year of 2019, ORF2 2020 will be "a little more in the spotlight of entertainment," announced ORF2 channel manager Alexander Hofer. Debuts include "Vienna Blood" and the sequel to "Maria Theresia" by Robert Dornhelm. Hofer was also pleased that it was possible to win "old warhorse and circus horse" Peter Rapp for a comeback with a new show. It will feature delicacies and hoppalas from the ORF archive.
It will continue in 2020 with the "Liebesg & schichten and marriage affairs" for the first time with Nina Horowitz, and the "Millionenshow", whose 20th anniversary is celebrated with a special edition. In April, it celebrates "Austria Blooms – The Great Garden Show" with organic gardener Karl Ploberger at the main opening night of ORF2.
In "Bürgeranwalt spezial" Peter Resetarits presents citizens' concerns in a new live format. Several documentaries accompany the historical focus "75 years of the end of the war".
Salzburg and Olympia Festival
In addition to annual highlights such as the New Year's Concert and the Summer Night Concert, ORF's culture is also dedicated to a number of birthdays: the program includes Ludwig van Beethoven's 250th Anniversary, 150 years of the Musikverein Vienna and 100 years of the Salzburg Festival. Highlights of the sport include the Tokyo Summer Olympics, the 2020 European Championship and the Ski World Cup, the ÖFB Cup and the Formula 1 season.
Throughout the year, the program will celebrate the "50th Anniversary of Austropop". An "Austropop-Chartshow" has led in recent decades, the "Late Night Music Session" brings Austrian musicians to ORF-Tonstudios and the "ORF1 Kultursommer" stage transfers are planned from Austrian festivals.
