Cancer: Certain Diets Promote Tumor Growth – You Should Avoid These Foods


Healthy foods can prevent thousands of cancers every year. For the diet has a great impact on the risk of getting cancer.

This is the conclusion of a recent study by researchers at Tufts University, USA, which was published in the journal "JNCI Cancer Spectrum".

The highest risk of developing cancer due to poor nutrition is therefore between the ages of 45 and 64 years.

In the US alone, researchers in Boston attribute a total of 80,110 cancer cases in adults over 20 years of age to a poor diet. This corresponds to approximately 5.2% of all newly diagnosed invasive cancer cases and therefore is comparable to the number of cancer cases that are presumably caused by alcohol.

The numbers of the study entitled "Risk of preventable cancer associated with malnutrition in the US" refer to 2015 and to cases of illness in the United States.

The interesting thing about the study: Researchers from seven food / food groups have closely examined how they affect the risk of developing cancer. From this risk analysis, they derived a sort of list of negative occurrences.

The higher risk of cancer, therefore, has people who

  • eat very little whole grains

Followed by people who

  • very few dairy products
  • very few fruits and vegetables
  • lots of processed meat
  • lots of red meat
  • many sugary drinks

Processed meat means meat that is preserved by salting, fermenting, smoking or pickling, such as ham or sausages. The fact that the consumption of processed meat can cause cancer, as the World Health Organization (WHO) has already pointed out and therefore has classified it as "carcinogenic."

Red meat, muscle meat from beef, pork, sheep, horse or goat is "probably carcinogenic," according to WHO scientists. This applies especially in relation to colon cancer, but links with pancreatic cancer and prostate cancer can also be detected.

Whole grains reduce the risk of colorectal cancer

Thus, a high consumption of processed meat increases the risk of colorectal cancer. Those who eat lots of whole grains reduce the likelihood of colon cancer.

In the new US study, researchers also investigated which type of cancer malnutrition is the most common: According to the colon (colon cancer) and rectal cancer (rectal cancer), the most common (38.3%) cancers diet.

This dietary combination, therefore, poses the greatest health risk: low in whole milk and dairy products and a high consumption of processed meat.
