Growing despite the crisis – true to this motto, the budget hotel group B&B Hotels continues its expansion plans and has now published specific goals for that: more than 150 new openings in Germany in the next ten years. The hotel group has already celebrated nine new openings in Germany in recent months and three more are expected to be added by the end of the year. The Austrian portfolio is also growing: the fourth B&B hotel opened in September. While eleven new openings in Germany and four more in Austria are planned for 2021, the search for more locations is underway.

Max C. Luscher, CEO of Central and Northern Europe at B&B Hotels, can look forward to “some recovery in the summer” after the end of the third quarter. This year’s new openings would also “perform comparatively well”. Sufficient reason for optimism. “This makes us confident and, despite increasing travel restrictions, we remain optimistic for the future,” is his creed. He himself expects a normalization effect in 2021.

The last few months have not left the group of budget hotels without a trace, as Luscher makes clear: “Due to the discontinuation of fairs and event deals and the general absence of international guests, we are also losing important target groups. Even so, we are convinced of our product and its sustainability and are pursuing our expansion plans ”. And the CEO also makes a specific appeal: “Anyone who has interesting properties or to rent should contact us. In the meantime, the locations in the leisure sector are increasingly interesting for us. “

Criteria for choosing a location include cities and metropolitan areas with at least 100,000 overnight stays a year, good transport connections and parking spaces, according to the company. They can be vacant lots, old offices or existing hotels.
