Hoffenheim must beat Donetsk to save the chance to win. The TSG stays behind in the morning, then gets up, but in the end should not be.
Kraichgauer simply has no premier class: Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim lost their first win in the Champions League in the fifth attempt. The 2: 3 (2: 2) against Schachtjor Donetsk TSG failed in the group stage, and the chances of the Europa League consolation prize are extremely bad.
Croatian runners-up Andrej Kramaric (17th) and Swiss World Cup contender Steven Zuber (40th) scored for Hoffenheim. Ismaily (14) and Taison (15/90 + 2) were successful for Donetsk. TSG striker Adam Szalai saw the yellow-red card for repeated fouls (60). In two weeks, the Hoffenheim must compete in Manchester City – and hopefully at least still move Schachtjor in Fernduell from third place in Group F to.
Hoffenheim with the start of disaster
Before the match, TSG coach Julian Nagelsmann's main concern was to control his team's defensive weakness. "Basically, we just have to defend better, that's the key," said the 31-year-old, whose team has conceded nine goals in the last four games.
The pros obviously did not listen to the coach. The hosts, who did not have Dennis Geiger, Benjamin Huebner, Nadiem Amiri, Lukas Rupp, Joelinton and the suspended Kasim Adams, were initially completely out of focus. The weak initial phase of Hoffenheim was immediately punished by Donetsk.
Turbulent minutes start
In both quick goals, the defensive behavior turned out to be bad again. Especially captain Kevin Vogt, Harvard Nordtveit and international Nico Schulz did not look well. However, the Kraichgauer were under the eyes of 22,920 spectators at the Rhein-Neckar Arena, only briefly shocked. Kramaric brought the TSG back into the game after Ishak Belfodil's preparatory work with a valuable jack.
About ten minutes later, Hoffenheim was lucky that Junior Moraes put his header close to the TSG goal (28). After this scene, not much happened. The Nagelsmann team did almost nothing in attack. There was almost nothing to be seen about play and creativity. Compensation for the Zubers header was more of a coincidence.
Taison Destroys Last Hope
At the beginning of the second half, Hoffenheim increased the rate of scams and put the Ukrainians under pressure. The leadership of majority shareholder Dietmar Hopp's club was on the air. However, the urgency period ended without the TSG being reached. Instead, the Hoffenheim were only with ten men on the court, as Szalai held within a short period of time two fouls that were punished by referee Ivan Kruzliak (Slovakia) with yellow-red.
Despite the deficit, Zuber almost shot Hoffenheim in the lead but the Swiss hit only the bar (69). Then, the Kraichgauer continued to push for the third goal, but over time the forces decreased. Shortly before the final whistle, the guests hit the post. A little later, Taison destroyed all the dreams of the Kraichgauer.
