Make no mistake – The Secret Life of Pets 2 is a child-only affair.
So many children's films also serve the parents who are dragged, and the first The Secret Life of Pets has occupied this line better but this sequel is a simple and funny affair that kids will love but not so much adults – especially if they do not have a pet.
Doggos Max (Patton Oswalt) and Duke (Eric Stonestreet) settled together when their owner Katie ended their lives by getting married and then getting pregnant. When baby Liam comes, first is a horror movie for the furbabies, but when Liam starts to connect with Max, it's love.
It's when Max develops anxieties about keeping Liam safe in the big city, developing an obsessive habit of scratching himself – it's for the vet, who beats him a cone of shame.
On a weekend off to visit an uncle on a farm, the city dogs Max and Duke find Rooster (Harrison Ford), a serious Welsh shepherd dog, who commands all the sheep, the cow intimidating and the wild fox. It's a chance for Max to learn to be confident again.

Back in New York City, Gidget (Jenny Slate) was tasked with protecting Max's favorite toy, Busy Bee, which she loses in an apartment full of cats.
Meanwhile, Bunny Snowball (Kevin Hart) meets Daisy (Tiffany Haddish) and embarks on a rescue mission to save a white tiger from an evil circus owner.
Eventually, the three subframes merge into one.
The Secret Life of Pets 2 works better as a series of vignettes or TV episodes than as a feature with a coherent narrative, but small children will not mind, happy to look at bright colors, crazy movements and adorably large-eyed animals.
This does not make it a bad movie, but let's be honest about what it is – a children's entertainment piece that presents an occasional glimpse into how to own a pet. Yes, these loose socks really make humans crazy.
And it remains impressive from an animation perspective, which really does appear. For example, the level of detail on the jack russell terrier Max's nose – the grooves and the light moisture – is reproduced so convincingly.
The voice performances are also excellent – especially Oswalt (taking the place of Louis C.K.), Hart, Slate and Lake Bell as the tabby Chloe.
The first Secret Pets Life had a bold history, Baby's Day Out– fairy tale that created this fanciful and imaginative version of New York. This is a smaller movie, and it tries to rely more on the show than on the emotional beats.
In equilibrium, The Secret Life of Pets 2 is a sweet and cute film to take your kids for school holidays.
The secret lives of pets is in theaters on Thursday, June 20
