BOISE, Idaho (AP) – An Idaho woman who thought she was gaining weight from menopause found that she actually had a 50-kilogram tumor that had grown inside her for decades.
TV station Boise KTVB reports that Meridian's Brenda Cridland attributed her weight gain to aging but when her health began to decline rapidly about eight months ago she decided to see a doctor.
It was when a CT scan revealed that she had a huge tumor that had dislocated her organs and was cutting the blood supply to the brain. Cridland said he went through two and a half hours of surgery to remove the mass, which was thankfully benign.
Cridland says he lost 65 pounds in the process and found that the tumor was caused by undiagnosed endometriosis. She says she ignored the red flags about her health, and hopes her story reminds other women not to avoid consulting a doctor.
