This is made clear in a report by the Argentine Confederation of Medium-sized Enterprises (CAME) made by the consultant Focus Market, which analyzed consumer buying projections for the holiday season, the most important in retail.
"The date comes with a previous context of decline in retail sales during November of 15%, and the consumer segment (food, beverages, cleaning and personal hygiene) of 10.1%," explained the director of the sector . consultant Damián Di Pace, in dialogue with Telam.
In this context, the analyst assured that "The retail industry's outlook is to slow down the November decline and have at least a cash balance this month, taking into account that December 2017 sales grew just 0.7 percent."
For Di Pace, December already experiences important changes in consumption variables in relation to November, which considers marked a fall floor that was determined by the accumulated inflation of September and October, the loss of consumer purchasing power and the restriction of spending with credit card.
"In December, the payment in several sectors of the compensatory bonus and the semi-annual bonus, the incorporation of new joint installments already agreed for 2018 or due to future increases, and a deceleration process that is estimated to be extended in the last month, appear as a message encouraging of the year, "said the CAME consultant.
According to the national survey that included 7,200 cases, this Christmas 30% of Argentines will turn to the purchase of clothing items; 24% toys; 13% of gift shop and 10% of perfumery, relegating the rest of the items to participation margins of less than 4%.
At the moment, it stands out as the segment relegated in Christmas purchases in relation to the previous years that of electronics, computing and mobile telephony – with accumulated fall in the year of 7.2% and 21.8 in November – due to a ticket high demand in the end of 2018.
"In general, sales are very austere and families should spend more on Saturday, Sunday and Monday., due to the fact that it will be the moment of greater intensity of promotions, discounts and offers in the retail channel, anticipated Di Pace.
In this sense, CAME's work revealed that consumers can access appliances up to 30% in appliances and 12 interest-free installments according to chains and cards; in telephony up to 40% discount on smartphones and 12 installments without interest; and clothing and footwear up to 25% less.
In toys you can get discounts of 30% and 6 interest-free installments of an agreement of the Argentine Chamber of Toys Industry (CAIJ) and Fecoba, while in the market segment, such as Mercado Libre or Avenida.com, discounts of up to 30% are foreseen in certain products.
Finally, the survey also highlights the options offered by the Service Price Program for the purchase of traditional toys, and the plans for financing Ahora 3 and Ahora 6 of interest-free installments in clothing, footwear and leather goods.
For its part, the Ministry of Production said that next Monday Christmas purchases can be made through the Ahora 12 program, which is usually available from Thursday to Sunday.
"The Ministry of Internal Commerce added the program Ahora 12 on Monday December 24 so that consumers can make their Christmas shopping that day in 3, 6, 12 and 18 parcels," said the statement released today by the Ministry of Production .
