Arutz Sheva He spoke to Yonatan Winetraub, co-founder of SpaceIL, after the Beresheet spacecraft performed a critical maneuver in orbit around the moon in preparation for landing there.

"This is the first time a private organization has been able to capture with the moon. We are now the seventh country to reach the moon and capture with it. This is a critical moment because if we could not do that, we ventured into the unknown, but the moon would no longer be in reach, "he explained.

"This is an important milestone. We are much more optimistic now, although there are still difficulties with landing [on the moon]. The landing sensor has been tested, but not totally in space, but beyond that we have a real chance of landing on the moon, "added Winetraub.

"This project is also about education. We have reached more than one million children over the eight and a half years SpaceIL has been running. We can see that all the children in Purim were dressed as astronauts. It is truly amazing to see the amount of enthusiasm and hope that some of them will study engineering and science and propel Israel forward. "
