Erika Villavicencio Ayub, coordinator of organizational psychology at the Faculty of Psychology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), said that due to recent medical studies and detected symptoms, the intensive use of Whatsapp could become an addiction to Information Technology (ICT).

DAccording to the academic, there are several indicators that detect whether or not we are addicted to whatsapp. These are: andl time spent on the application, lying about its use, believing that notifications are received (hallucinations or "ghost" vibration).
For this, Villavicencio Ayub adds other symptoms. Between them, neglecting sleep, personal care, not eating well, losing interpersonal relationships and maintaining this behavior despite the negative consequences.

According to Villavicencio Ayub, those who suffer from this addiction also experience high levels of anxiety, depression, fatigue and disturbances of concentration. This is reinforced because the brain gets a nice feeling when using the network.
How to deal with this problem?
Villavicencio Ayub explained that this dependency has advanced to alarming levels in young people, there were even some cases of death.
The first thing to do is to go to a professional to diagnose the patient to perform the corresponding treatment.
"It is important to realize that ICTs are part of our current life and do not intend to go against the current, but we must learn to use them correctly to benefit without affecting our health or any area of life"explained the professional.
