The Directorate of Health and Environment of the Municipality of Coronel Dorrego, before the occurrence of cases of hantavirus in the province of Buenos Aires, reported that although there were no large mice in our region, he recalled that it is an acute acute viral disease , caused by the Hanta virus.
Wild mice (especially long-tailed mice) transmit to people by killing the virus in saliva, feces, and urine.
Transmission is by inhalation and occurs when breathing in open or closed places (sheds, orchards, pastures) where the feces or urine of the infected rodents released the virus contaminating the environment.
Also by direct contact, touching live or dead infected rodents, or the feces or urine of these rodents, as well as by stings of infected rodents.
Symptoms resemble a state of flu, fever, muscle aches, chills, headaches, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain and diarrhea. After a few days, there may be respiratory discomfort that may be aggravated by the production of what is known as "hantavirus cardiopulmonary syndrome."
To avoid coexistence with rodents and contact with their secretions, rodents should enter or nest in houses, cover holes in doors, walls and pipes, perform cleaning (floors, walls, doors, tables, drawers and cabinets) with a bleach every nine of water (leave 30 minutes and then rinse).
You should also moisten the floor before sweeping to avoid dust, mowing grass and weeds, ventilate for at least 30 minutes before entering places that have been closed (houses, sheds), cover your mouth and nose with a jugular before you enter.
