The Board of the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) appointed Mauro Alessandro as the new Deputy General Manager of Economic Research.

Alessandro was the winner of an internal and external public tender organized by the entity.

The functions of the Deputy Director General for Economic Research are related to the advice to the President and the Board of Directors in the analysis and implementation of monetary policy, participation in the Monetary Policy Committee, establishing guidelines for the monitoring of the national economic situation. and the international communication of monetary policy, the production and dissemination of statistics and the development of economic models for the analysis of the country's economy.

Alessandro holds a PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a BA in Economics from the UBA and a Master's in Economics from Torcuato Di Tella University.

He had been acting as Chief Strategy and Policy Manager of Monetary Policy. of the Central Bank of Argentina since January 2017, where he directed the Monetary Policy Report and participated in the preparation of the Monetary Policy Notices.

He has been an acting member of the Monetary Policy Committee since August 2018. He joined the BCRA in July 2010, previously working in the main Economic Research and Risk Analysis Offices.

He is also author of works in the field of International Finance, currently is professor of the Master in Finance of the University Torcuato Di Tella.
