Restrictions are raised by the hantavirus in Epuyén

Epuyén Mayor Antonio Reato announced today that as of Friday, part of the restrictive measures imposed on the city of 4,000 people will be suspended in northwest Chubut, where an outbreak of hantavirus was declared in early December. 11 dead

"The mood of the population is better and starting this Friday, February 1st, I will lift almost all the restrictive measures that were dictated by the resolution, such as the prohibition of meetings, (limitation) schedules and the use of chinstraps in public places" , said Reato to Telam.

The head of the community clarified that "we will keep the minimum care in the closed places for about 10 days, until mid-February, because if we endure as much as we will not take a little longer."

Before the outbreak of hantavirus and the increasing number of cases, totaling 31 in Chubut, the Reato administration had resolved in early January "to suspend all activities of the group for a period of forty consecutive days" due to the "health alert imposed on relation to hantavirus interhuman infections. "

In addition, it had suspended "all activities of the group in the provincial institutional spaces within the municipal fabric, with the exception of the dependencies of the Ministry of Health", by resolution 007/2019, which will be modified to make these conditions more flexible.

The mayor told Telam that "the Hanta issue is improving and the situation is hopeful because you see it in the street, in the shops, in the supermarket, especially since there are no more intensive treatment patients since the weekend." , many are emerging from selective isolation and very few will be left for next week. "

"The bomb hit us totally," said Reato, referring to "the impact that was first sanitary, then social and ultimately economic because it affected tourism, which is an important source of income for us and the region in general."

The restrictive measures announced by the mayor earlier this month on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health were accompanied by several public bodies, such as the Peace Court, which depends on the Judiciary of Chubut, which suspended marriages until further notice.

The province of Patagonia has taken precautionary measures that included the selective isolation of almost 100 people who considered part of the "epidemiological link" because they were relatives or relatives of those who had infected the virus, many of whom have already been released. (Télam)
