One father pleaded guilty to riding an electronic scooter, while more than three and a half times the legal limit of blood alcohol.

Anthony Lee Preston returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.174 after being stopped for driving a red light at James Street in Fortitude Valley in January.

Mr. Preston said he "thought he was doing the right thing" and "just wanted to get home" when he chose to ride the Lime scooter.

One magistrate today called Mr. Preston's behavior "stupid" and fined him $ 400.
