The Chaco Epidemiology director, Mariela Fabiani, said that, along with the Machagai Hospital, Health Region 2 and the city team, the vector control actions were carried out in the nine blocks corresponding to the area of ​​the patient's family in the city of Chaco. The operation included the search for fever and no cases were found compatible with mosquito-borne diseases.

He also explained that the activities were performed at the time the suspected case was reported, as indicated in the protocol. Regarding the epidemiological situation, in 2018, there was no indigenous circulation for Chikungunya fever in the country, according to the National Epidemiology Bulletin. By 2017, there was no active circulation of the Chikungunya virus in Argentina. A confirmed case was reported in Santa Fe and nine probable cases of Chikungunya fever in Buenos Aires (three), CABA (four) and Córdoba (two).

Prevention

Fabiani stressed the importance of intensifying prevention measures, especially considering the period of heat and rain that our region is going through. The main measure is the elimination of all possible nurseries as unused containers that accumulate water (cans, bottles, tires, plastic containers, tarpaulin), those that are used to turn (such as buckets, basins, drums) (drinking cups) Drinking drinking fountains).

Keep the patios clean, separate, and removed. They also clean gutters and the rain drains from the roofs. Cover the tanks and containers that are used to collect water.

It is also important to avoid mosquito bites by using repellents or wearing clothing with sleeves that cover arms and legs, especially during outdoor activities. And consult your doctor immediately before the symptoms and do not self-medicate.

Chikungunya
