At least 19 people were injured on Monday in a riot during the Los Angeles tribute to the rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was shot dead on Sunday, the California Fire Department said.

Two of the wounded are in critical condition.

Hundreds of people came to pay tribute to Nipsey Hussle at Marathon Clothing, the musician's clothing store in the South Los Angeles area and at the door of whom he was killed.

However, the site of the tribute turned into chaos as countless people began fleeing the riot area after 8 pm local time (4:00 p.m. GMT) on Tuesday.

At the moment, the causes of the stampede are not clear, since in the first place there were rumors of a shooting, but the police denied this information in Twitter.

Officials said most of the wounded were caused by pushing, stepping, or running when people fled the scene.

On the other hand, the Los Angeles police today posted images and information on the social networks of Eric Holder, the suspect in the murder of Nipsey Hussle and whose whereabouts are unknown.

The murder occurred about thirty minutes after the artist posted on his Twitter account that "having strong enemies is a boon".

Because of these signs, it is believed that this crime may be related to gang violence.

Ergias Asghedom, the real name of Nipsey Hussle, was born in Los Angeles in 1985 and became famous in the scene hip hop of the Californian city as an artist proud of its origins of street and connected to a faction of the Crips, one of the most famous gangs of the city.

After several years in which it launched different singles and mixtapes, Nipsey Hussle published in 2018 its debut album "Victory Lap".

Thanks to this record, he was nominated for the best rap album at the 61st Grammy Awards.

Numerous North American stars, such as Rihanna or Drake, lamented the murder of Nipsey Hussle, who had two children and was highly valued among the African-American community for their community and social work.

American rap, a world in which premature deaths due to violence have been frequent throughout its history, suffered the murders of last year. XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo.
