According to what is posted by the Apple 9to5Mac portal, if someone calls another person via FaceTime, just try to add a third person to a group chat to activate this failure: the team detects that the call has become a group and the microphone is activated without the need for the call to be accepted.

The flaw has become viral on social networks – such as the one that sent the user @ BmManski-, and there are several videos that show how easy it is to put it into action. This failure did not affect those who activated Do Not Disturb mode or who did not upgrade their operating systems.

The users on the networks did not fail to go to the fact that only this month Apple launched an ad, near the CES Technology Fair, in which it alludes to the privacy that supposedly provides FaceTime, in an attempt – now failed – to differentiate itself from competitors as Google and Facebook.

Hours before the error was revealed to the public for the first time, Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, had tweeted – just in the context of Data Privacy Day– that "the dangers are real and the consequences are very important" not to institute "vital privacy protections". Data Privacy Day is a global event set up by the Council of Europe in 2007 to educate businesses and consumers on the importance of protecting privacy.

An additional fact to keep in mind: The failure surfaced the day before Apple's quarterly earnings report, which was expected to be negative – the company cut its revenue forecast by at least $ 5 billion. Cook blamed a slowdown in China for profit reduction, and cited a battery replacement program, exchange rate fluctuations and the end of subsidies for new carriers as additional factors.

Apple acknowledges failure and announced that it is working on a solution that will reach the end of this week. In the meantime, you've temporarily disabled group calls in FaceTime.

For the doubts, it is recommended to disable the messaging service. As? Under Settings, look for the FaceTime icon (green in the shape of a video camera) and move the activation control to gray.
