Safety Ideas Santam

Start-up companies with a business venture from FinTech or InsurTech are invited to attend the third annual Santam Safety Ideas competition. InsurTech security solutions or projects that are ready for piloting can earn up to R150,000 in incubation support and $ 200,000 in initial funding.

The Safety Ideas Contest was launched two years ago in partnership with LaunchLab, Stellenbosch University's startup incubator that facilitates valuable connections to corporations and startups from the startup ecosystem and partner universities in South Africa. Previous winners are Herman Bester and Anton Swanevelder, co-founders of MyLifeLine – a panic device that won the competition last year; and Ntsako Mgiba and Ntandoyenkosi Shezi, co-founders of Jonga – an economic security system for low-income families, who won the competition in 2017.
