Montana Health Authorities Record Nearly 1,500 Flu Cases

Montana health officials reported 488 new flu cases in the state during the last week of January, bringing the total to 1,486.

The Bozeman Daily Chronicle reports that the state Department of Public Health and Human Services has registered 75 people hospitalized and two flu-related deaths so far this season.

The state has defined influenza as widespread, meaning that outbreaks or increases in cases have been reported in about half of the state.

Montana reported 10,431 flu cases, 979 hospitalizations and 79 deaths last season.

Gallatin County Health Director Matt Kelley says it's not too late for people to get a flu vaccine.
