Met Gala 2019: Rihanna and Blake Lively are far from seen and Twitter is not impressed

If you expected to see Rihanna and Blake Lively walking on the pink carpet of the Met Gala tonight, do not be afraid, since you're not the only one to be very disappointed by their absence.

Amidst the crowds of celebrities exhibiting their Camp-inspired ensembles at Monday night's fashion show at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the celebrated couple was nowhere to be seen.

On Monday night, Rihanna prompted fans that her appearance at the star-studded event was imminent when she posted a photo of Vogue's chief editor Anna Wintour at the gala party on her instagram page.

"Best dressed," the singer captioned the photo.

Over the weekend, Lively debuted her baby boom on her husband, Ryan Reynolds, debuts in Los Angeles for her latest movie, Detective Pokémon Pikachu.

The pair's failed participation in the party this year has devastated several Twitter fashion fans who were eager to see what is expected to be a show-stopping group.

"Not Rihanna and not Blake Lively? What's the gala party this year? "Commented one user.

Another added, "Where are Rihanna and Blake Lively when you need them? #MetGala

Meanwhile, a disgruntled fan commented, "Rihanna and blake excited are the queens of the gala and they did not come?" is canceled [sic].

Another fan was quick to point out that Rihanna and Lively were not the only Legends of the Met Gala who were not present at today's event, tweeting: "No Rihanna at Blake Lively No Sarah Jessica Parker at the Beyoncé Met Gala 2019 could very well not have happened . "

In recent years, Rihanna and Blake Lively have become internationally known for their creative gala dresses, created by artists such as Riri Don Comme des Garçons, Ralph Lauren and Versace.

However, while fans expected to see the more experienced pair in the event, this is not the first time Rihanna and Lively are missing the red carpet of the event.

In 2016, the singer ignored the 2016 event, which took place under the title "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology" just a year after stunning the red carpet in a yellow dress designed by Guo Pei that was later transformed on a pizza "meme" all over the world.

Meanwhile, the Gossip Girl actor missed the gala in 2012 and 2015 due to rumors of work and family commitments.

On Friday, Rihanna announced that her beauty line Fenty Beauty will finally be available on British high street.

Singer Bajan tweeted about her beauty brand's partnership with Boots, a health and beauty retailer who will see branded products available for purchase in the store starting May 10.
