Johannesburg – It is never nice to see a car destroyed, but when it comes to an exotic the kind that dreams are made, it becomes a more painful sight for those of the petrolhead persuasion.

This was the fate of a red Ferrari 488 Spider over the weekend, as we see in these photos posted on Twitter by Reza (@crimeairnetwork).

According to the account, the driver "allegedly" lost control of the vehicle at high speed outside the Houghton Golf Club in Johannesburg.

The impact took off a large part of the Ferrari front, but fortunately there were no human injuries, the passenger compartment remained intact and stable during impact.

It will be an expensive mess, though. The 488 Spider, launched in South Africa in May 2016, currently sells for $ 5.8 million.

The open-top supercar is powered by a 3.9-liter turbocharged V8 engine that produces 492kW and 760Nm, enough for the horse to fly from 0-100km / h in just three seconds, and to 200km / h in just 8 , 7s, according to the company's complaints, while the top speed is listed at 325km / h.

To keep the weight down, the car is a mix of lightweight and expensive materials, including 11 different types of aluminum alloys, some combined with other metals such as magnesium.

As might be expected, the Social Media Judges and the Jury had a field day with this, posting comments like:

"I'm sure it will polish …"

"More money than skill …"

"I hope he's not in Momentum"

"Too many horses there for the untrained foot!"
